What is a Doula specialist?

Doula specialist is a professional trained in childbirth who provides emotional, physical, and educational support to a mother who is expecting, is experiencing labor, or has recently given birth. The purpose of Doula is to help women have a safe, memorable, and empowering birthing experience. Most often the term Doula refers to the Birth Doula or labor support companion.:

It was getting closer to our due date, and I still hadn’t found a Doula. Suzan responded immediately to my inquiry and arranged to meet my husband and me for a consultation. I’d like to let you know how amazing it was to have Suzan by my side for my birth experience. Friends of mine have told me about poor birth experiences they had, and I feel so lucky to report that mine was great. This was largely due to Suzan and her expertise. I honestly can’t imagine having done it without her. When the birth did not go at all as I’d hoped, she remained calm and patient.   • How to sign up as a parent?

    There are two options to sign up as a parent. You can go ahead and find your preferred Doula specialist, then get signed up when you request service for your selected specialist. Also you can open regular Sign up as a parent page and provide your information to sign up. After sign up you need to activate your account to allow specialists get your service requests. So without full filled profile and activated account specialists will not see your requests.

  • Our Find Specialist page helps you find your preferred Doula specialist. Click on the Request Service button for the selected specialist and provide necessary information to request a service. It is important to provide correct and up to date information on the service request form as your contact information should be shared with specialist allowing them to contact you for a service.

  • To hire a Doula specialist go to our Find Specialist page, set search criteria to find couple of specialists matching your requirements and needs. Send Service Requests to selected specialists. Do not hesitate to send more requests, it will help you get a list of possible candidates. Specialists who are serious about serving families will respond you within 48 hours. So you are going to receive email from each requested specialist with contact information. Go ahead and contact each specialist to find the best match. Confirm the doula’s availability.   • The Doula occupation is unlicensed and unregulated. One way to ensure your Doula has met high standards for education, training and experience is to choose a certified doula from a well-known and respected Doula certifying organization.   • It is possible that Doula specialist you found cannot respond your request because of availability. You can try to find another possible candidates on the Find Specialist page.

  • How to sign up as a Doula specialist?

    Sign up is strait forward action, just open Sign up as a Doula specialist page, provide necessary information and submit sign up form. Then you are going to receive account activation link by email. Just click on the link and activate your account.

  • After activating you account you need to complete your profile. Go to My Profile page, upload your up to date photo, provide your information for your profile. After changing your email or phone numbers you need to verify them. Please be informed that without complete information your profile could not be displayed on the search or listings page. Also go to My Notifications page to change notification preferences.

  • To set up services you are providing please go to My Services page (You can open this page in the menu also), click edit button then add or change services you are qualified and ready to provide. You can provide your fees, duration, experience for each service here. After changes please save your services page.

  • To set up your qualification and education please go to My Qualification page (You can open this page in the menu also), click edit button then add or change qualifications or education you have. After changes please save your qualifications page.

  • To set up your speaking languages go to My Languages page (You can open this page in the menu also), click edit button then add or change languages you are speaking. After changes please save your languages page.
